Jennings are ready to stop running. After weeks spent in hiding as two
of the Bureau of Reformation’s most wanted criminals, they have finally
arrived at the safe house, where they hope to live a safe and quiet
existence.

And all that’s left is smoking ruins.

Devastated
by the demolition of their last hope, Ember and Chase follow the only
thing left to them—tracks leading away from the wreckage. The only sign
that there may have been survivors.

With their high profile, they
know they can’t stay out in the open for long. They take shelter in the
wilderness and amidst the ruins of abandoned cities as they follow the
tracks down the coast, eventually finding refugees from the destroyed
safe house. Among them is someone from Chase’s past—someone he never
thought he’d see again.

Banding together, they search for a place
to hide, aiming for a settlement a few of them have heard about…a
settlement that is rumored to house the nebulous organization known as
Three. The very group that has provided Ember with a tiny ray of hope
ever since she was first forced on the run.

Three is responsible
for the huge network of underground safe houses and resistance groups
across the country. And they may offer Ember her only chance at telling
the world her story.

At fighting back.
My Review

When I started reading Three I had no idea what was happening. Because I read the previous book almost a year ago, I didn't remember a thing that happened. So, the first 20 or so pages of this book were kind of confusing. But then I started remembering this from the past and remembered what happened the last time I read about Ember and Chase.

To be honest, I didn't like most of Three. There weren't scenes that took my breath away or kept me at the edge of my seat. I felt betreyed a little bit, because from what i've read in the previous two books, I know how brilliantly Kristen Simmons' mind works.

I couldn't connect too much with Ember and Chase. I didn't feel most of the things that they did. At one point, even if they died I wouldn't have cared much. But then, came the last 100 pages of Three. And let me tell you, those were good. Like really good. If it weren't for those, the rating would have been lower by a lot.

The story started twisting and I even didn't think that Kristen could solve everything in those last 100 pages the way I wanted it, and I was scared for the characters, especially Chase. In those moments I remembered why I love Kristen Simmons' writing so much.

I
loved how Simmons threw in a few surprises like the identity of Three,
and someone from Chase's background that he didn't think he would ever
see again. I think one of the best things about
Three was that even though Ember and Chase are the main characters,
Sean, Rebecca, Billy, and others are not left out of the loop.

I am glad that Three ended the way I wanted it to end. I am so happy that I had this awesome opportunity to read this amazing trilogy that left me so many good memories (especially the first book). I just can't wait to see what's the next thing that Kristen Simmons writes.

4 out of 5 stars
traychehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11945579701344020423noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5401931473743206679.post-87748182071165804692014-03-14T13:08:00.000-07:002014-03-14T13:08:00.661-07:00BOOK REVIEW: Boy Nobody by Allen Zadoff

I decided to read this because it seemed short and fun and not all too complicated, because I did not have time to read something large and complex. Well, this book was somewhere in between. It's short, and the story is not too complicated.

I liked Boy Nobody because it was quite original. I've never read a YA book before written this way. The writing was nice and concise. While reading it, you have a feeling like you're watching a movie, because this story would perfectly be adapted in a movie.

It was hard conecting to the main character, because he tried as much as he could to stay on the low, and he kept adapting new personalities with every next target and he didn't show much emotion.

I felt that the book moved way too fast. I do understand that he had 7 days to complete the mission he was given, but that a short time to fall in love with a girl. And there was an insta connection and almost insta love between the two main characters.

One thing I liked the most about this book is how in every single situation, Boy Nobody proved that he is so intelligent and acted that way. He knew everything that was happening, and always acted accordingly.
I
rated the first book The Knife of Never Letting Go 5 stars, because I
loved it so so much! It was original and crazy awesome. After finishing
it, people were telling me that I shouldn't expect too much of book two,
because it's slow and not as good as the first one. WHAT? This must've
been another book then, because it was freaking beautiful and even
better than the first one.

It starts off right where book one
ended, and that is in Haven, which now is called New Prentisstown,
because Mayor Prentiss came first and well, he wanted to become a

I don't want to talk about the main
characters Todd and Viola much. I like them, but they are not my
favorite. Let me talk about the father-son Prentiss duo.
Seriously,
how awesome is Mayor Prentiss? He is probably my all time favorite
villain. He is such a complex character and it's so hard to guess what
he is going to do next, what his next move is or what he's going to say.
I love how smart he is, and how he has the power to just make us think
that he's good and the other side is bad. At one moment he got even me! I
admit it. I was like "This guy is good. Why does everybody hate him?".
And then in the next chapter it would just hit me "Oh, there's why". But
nevertheless he is just damn right smart. And evil. But I still love
him.

Let me say just a few words about my other favorite
character, Davy Prentiss. He is the one character that we saw mentally
growing in this book. From what he started in book 1, to the things he
did in book 2, he definitely made a big progress. Throughout the both
books I thought that we deserve chapters from his POV, because he had it
tough, this guy. All the stuff he had to suffer because of his father,
damn I feel sorry for this guy.

I
just can't explain how much I love this trilogy. Patrick Ness is a
mastermind, I admit it. He has the power to make me feel. The Ask and
The Answer ended with such a big cliffhanger and I just can't wait to
see what happens in Monsters of Men. This has become one of my favorite
series. It's hard to top Uglies and Divergent, but this is close. Really
close.
WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN?

This book was so unbelievebly amazing. Believe me when I say that.

Before starting to read it I had some expectations. Nothing too high nothing too low. People have been telling me that this is an awesome trilogy and that I should just read it. But boy, I did not expect it to be this good!

The beginning of the book, the first few chapters weren't that good. There was even time when I thought that I should maybe give up and start reading something else. Thank God I didn't listen to my mind. After the first 30 or so pages this book gets so good that you wouldn't even believe it.

Patrick Ness is such a genius author. The way he writes, the way he expresses his thoughts is beyond great. His writing style is so original and different that anything else.

I must say that this is I think the first book that made me emotional. Like, I almost teared up a bit. Why? Because of a certain death. The death of my favorite character. I'm trying not to spoil it for you, but damn it was so hard saying goodbye to him. I hate Todd for making the decision he made in that chapter.

This was the first YA book that I've read in a long time. Maybe six months or more. Thank God I made a come back like this. It is also the first book I read this year. Let's just hope that all the books I read this year are nearly as good as this one.

As you can tell, Jackal is a really awesome, vampire(which one isn't?), former vampire King of Chicago and Allison's older brother. Kanin turned him a couple of decades before finding Allie. Most think he is the villain in these novels but I think he is misunderstood. He is one of those anti-heros. You never know if he is telling the truth or not. He plays by his own rules and knows when is the time to strike and when to pull back. Jackal's biggest concern is Jackal. He doesn't do anything if he doesn't help him in any way. I'm still not sure why he helped Allie track down Kanin who's being torture by the so-called Psycho Vamp, Saren. Jackal calls Kanin 'old man' and doesn't show he still cares for him but he still goes with Allie. So I would say, don't underestimate Jackal. He is not as vicious as he's trying to make us believe.

What I like most about him is his sarcasm and fearlessness. He teases Allie and Zeke when they're having a tender moment. He doesn't tolerate stupidity well so he just kills everyone that's going on his nerves, that is, if he can. Leave it to him to make all of us laugh.

The only thing that's bigger than his thirst for blood is thirst for power. There's nothing he wouldn't do to be able to rule. He's proven that when he a King of Chicago. His subjects were all ruthless killers who enjoyed watching humans fight rabids. Jackals's only weakness is he can't turn humans into vampires so his plans aren't going well, for now. But who knows, he might get his kingdom back in the third book. *whispers* I hope so.

What if you knew exactly when you’d die? By age sixteen, Rhine Ellery has four years left to live. A botched effort to create a perfect race has left all males born with a lifespan of 25 years, and females a lifespan of 20 years--leaving the world in a state of panic. Geneticists seek a miracle antidote to restore the human race, desperate orphans crowd the population, crime and poverty have skyrocketed, and young girls are being kidnapped and sold as polygamous brides to bear more children.

When Rhine is sold as a bride, she vows to do all she can to escape. Yet her husband, Linden, is hopelessly in love with her, and Rhine can’t bring herself to hate him as much as she’d like to. He opens her to a magical world of wealth and illusion she never thought existed, and it almost makes it possible to ignore the clock ticking away her short life. But Rhine quickly learns that not everything in her new husband’s strange world is what it seems. Her father-in-law, an eccentric doctor bent on finding the antidote, is hoarding corpses in the basement; her fellow sister wives are to be trusted one day and feared the next; and Rhine has no way to communicate to her twin brother that she is safe and alive.
Together with one of Linden's servants, Gabriel, Rhine attempts to escape just before her seventeenth birthday. But in a world that continues to spiral into anarchy, is there any hope for freedom?

I LOVE DYSTOPIAN BOOKS. THEY ARE SO SO SO GOOD. Wither wasn't an exception. I've wanted to read Wither since I read Delirium, and saw that these two series got many comparations. So, Delirium is my favorite book series, and of course, I wanted to read Wither. Now Wither is one of my favorite books ever!! Right there with Uglies and Delirium. I'm so glad I had a chance to read it.

It didn't have a lot of action. But it was never boring, which isn't the case with a lot of books who don't have a lot of action. Often they are boring, and not one moment I felt bored when I was reading Wither.

If you know me, then you'd know how much I love dystopian books. You'd also know how much action in dystopian books I want. You'd know that i'm not so much into the "romance" bits in novels. With Slated I felt like I changed all my beliefs. I didn't want it to have much action. I wanted more romance. Thank God, that was the case. What kept me reading Slated was the "mystery" part. Why was she Slated? Who is Kyla? What about her past?

A
self-proclaimed Navy brat, Tiffany spent most of her childhood living in
Virginia, but don’t call her a Southerner. She also spent a few years living in
Cuba. Since her time on the island of
one McDonalds and Banana Rats (don’t ask), she has been obsessed with
traveling. Tiffany recently added China to her list of travels (hello

The earliest books she remembers reading belong to The Little House on the

author she fell in love with? Jane Austen in middle school. Tiffany spent most
of her high school and college career as a literary snob. She refused to read

FRIGID by Jennifer L. Armentrout

For twenty-one-year-old
Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends
ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie.
Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with
that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer
than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't
want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To
him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's
always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always
be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one
girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive
Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from
coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet,
can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them,
and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

The urge to write first struck when working on a newsletter at a youth encampment in the woods of northern Maine. It may have been the night when lightning flashed at sunset followed by northern lights rippling after dark. Or maybe it was the newsletter's editor, a girl with eyes the color of the ocean. But he was inspired to write about the blurry line between reality and the fantastic.

Using two fingers and lots of white-out, he religiously typed five pages a day throughout college and well into his twenties. Then life intervened. He paused to raise two sons and pursue a career, in the process becoming a well-known entrepreneur in the software industry, founding several successful companies. When he found time again to daydream, the urge to write returned. There Comes a Prophet is his first novel in this new stage of life.

David and his wife split their time between Cape Cod, Florida and anywhere else that catches their fancy. He no longer limits himself to five pages a day and is thankful every keystroke for the invention of the word processor.
I am so glad I read this book!! Ever since I read Artcle 5 last year, I was eager to know what happens next. You know, Artcle 5 was one of the best books I read last year, and I definitely was excited for the sequel. I put my expectations very high, and expected a lot! Thank god I got everything I wanted! This book was excellent! It had action, it had a little bit romance and it SURE had some unexpected twists! Like the end, let's say. I loved it!

I think it flowed slowly but not borring. I loved the romance between Ember and Chase in Article 5, I loved it in Breaking Point too! There was one moment when I thought a love triangle was on the sight... Thanks Kristen for not being like almost every single YA author now.

Action:

She is not my favorite YA heroine ever, but I liked her. I liked that she didn't rely on Chase's protection, and I liked that she did what she wanted to do. She was tough, fierce and strong. The holy trinity of great heroines!

Chase was a descent hero. I liked that he protected Ember in most of the cases. The one thing I didn't like about him is that he was very fast when It came to thinking about some things. He started few fights without thinking about them.

It's been months since the ghost of Anna Korlov opened a door to Hell in her basement and disappeared into it, but ghost-hunter Cas Lowood can't move on.

His friends remind him that Anna sacrificed herself so that Cas could live—not walk around half dead. He knows they're right, but in Cas's eyes, no living girl he meets can compare to the dead girl he fell in love with.

Now he's seeing Anna everywhere: sometimes when he's asleep and sometimes in waking nightmares. But something is very wrong...these aren't just daydreams. Anna seems tortured, torn apart in new and ever more gruesome ways every time she appears.

Cas doesn't know what happened to Anna when she disappeared into Hell, but he knows she doesn't deserve whatever is happening to her now. Anna saved Cas more than once, and it's time for him to return the favor.
After all, she heard strange voices that drove her to commit suicide. But Sophie doesn’t believe that Nell would take her own life, and she’s convinced that Nell’s doctor knows more than he’s letting on.
REVIEW:

I applaud you Mrs. West. You managed to freak me out throughout the novel.

Since last year, I've been more and more interested in thrillers after so many paranormal novels disappointed me so I decided to shake things up and I'm glad I did because thrillers were just what I needed.

The night before I finished this book I was home alone and playing Left4Dead and lets just say, it wasn't pretty. All of the lights were on in my house and I was sitting in a corner listening to early Britney songs. This usually does the trick and I snap out of it but it wasn't helping because I started to think of all the creepy things that happened in this book and I back then I hadn't even read the first half of the book.

The creep factor was really high in this book. I did not expect it would go that far. There were two different parts in this novel. The first one was more contemporary with a dash of eerie mirror scenes with random whispering while the second was full on paranormal/horror story with the strange hair-raising black monsters that are actually something like split ghosts that are looking for their lost, other half in this world.

Also, the first half had romance which was ignored in the second part of the book. I didn't feel attached to the growing relationship of the characters because it happened to fast for my taste, especially considering that the main character, Sophie didn't have friends in school but she suddenly accepts the attention of Evan.

There was one thing I didn't like. The way out protagonist, Sophie never listened to anyone. There were a lot of situations where someone would say something like Don't go to that mental hospital or Don't go there alone or Obey the doctor, she wouldn't do it and her disobedience is what got her in big, colossal trouble every time. If she hadn't gone to the hospital in the middle of the night alone, none of the mess in the second half of the book wouldn't happen. But I guess, all of those things needed to happen in order to solve the whole mystery.

It might appear I said a lot of things that didn't set right but that's not entirely true because it's easier to talk about the bad side of the book rather that the good. All in all, I would recommend this book to my friends and everyone else since it had so many scary and unnerving scenes. It was definitely one of the best young-adult thrillers I've read.

But this isn’t just any list; it’s a dead girl's bucket list.

Sophie's beloved aunt Suzy died as a teenager in a fatal fall, leaving Sophie with an overly cautious family, a few fading photographs, and a bucket of bolts that barely passes for a car. But now, Sophie has Suzy’s list of the things she wanted to do in her last year of high school. Sophie can't help but wonder: What would happen if she tried to fulfill Suzy’s last wishes, to live out the longed-for life of her aunt, her hero?

As Sophie and her friends attempt to knock off the things on Suzy's list of dares, love blossoms in unexpected places and Sophie begins to feel that her life is finally coming together...when in fact, everything is slowly unraveling around her. When the truth about a long-held family secret threatens to shatter everything she believed to be true, Sophie is forced to question everything she knew about the life and people she believed in, and ultimately herself.
None of the Regular Rules by Erin
Downing is an okay read.

It’s definitely not the best book out there but it’s worthwhile. I love books that revolve around concepts
such as that of Bucket Lists and the journey of finally finding yourself.

So it wasn’t very hard to pick this book up immediately.

I feel the plot the whole book is set on is quite a good one actually. Dead
Aunt. Her list of things to do before she died. Hot Neighbour. Bestfriends. And
self discovery.
All the things that attract the usual YA crowd.
This book had lot of promise but honestly, it couldn’t quite live upto it. I
could see so many holes in the story while reading it and the protagonist in
itself was a big turn off. The story was way too predictable and I had a hard time
relating with the decisions the Sophie (The protagonist) made. What brought
most of the book was the fact that I wasn’t buying the emotional side of the
whole story. And the love story also felt a tad bland to me until the last few
pages.

But there’s always a silver lining.

Aside from the main protagonist , I loved the sub-characters. Sophie’s
bestfriends , Ella and Grace, were a treat to read about and there were some
parts of the novel that gave us something to like about the book.

Overall, an okay read for times when you just need a book to read and can’t
find one.

I teach during the day and my wife and I
have a young son (Jack), so I don’t have much time during the week. To be
honest, I’m too tired when I get home to summon up the creative energy you need
to write a novel. During school terms, I write in the weekends. Usually both
days. I can get on a bit of a roll then. In the holidays, I’ll write every
weekday for about the same time. I have the weekends off.

I write in the garage. I can’t concentrate
inside. As I try to tell other people – I’m immersing myself in a world. If you
talk to me or otherwise distract me, the world image I have before me has an
annoying tendency to disappear.
If I write for a whole day, I’ll usually
get about 4,000 words done. That’s 20k a week. You do the maths – you can have
a whole novel written in about 4 weeks. Of course, it may be terrible, but
that’s what the editing process is all about. For preparation, I get on the
rowing machine in the morning and listen to my ipod. That’s when I do most of
my thinking. I visualize the scenes in my head and the exercise clears my head
and gets me charged up. I probably drink about 3 cups of coffee in any given
writing day. I’ll start writing at 8am and write solidly until lunch when I’ll
have half an hour off. I find it doesn’t pay to have too much of a break –
especially if I’m really into the creative process. I’ll start writing again in
the afternoon and usually finish around 4pm. I don’t like to work much past
that otherwise I don’t get to spend any time with my family. Besides, I’m
pretty shattered by that point and my writing gets lazy. I do find it hard to
sleep after a solid day of writing – I’m usually too worked up and I often go
to bed thinking of better ways to write the scene. My wife tells me she talks
to me in the evenings and I answer her but I often forget can’t remember the
conversations (it gets awkward when we’re preparing to go out for the weekend
and I say ‘where to?’ and she of course says ‘we’ve talked about this.’)

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she's made it out of the bloody arena alive, she's still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what's worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss's family, not her friends, not the people of District 12. Powerful and haunting, this thrilling final installment of Suzanne Collins's groundbreaking The Hunger Games trilogy promises to be one of the most talked about books of the year.

At a Glance:
I read The Hunger Games and Catching Fire back to back last year. I really loved them! I always wanted to read Mockingjay, but I got the chance to read it this year. I'm so glad I read it! Few friends told me that the book is a dissapointment, and that it's not as good as the first two. I don't know what they were talking about! Mockingjay was magnificent! I loved it!

Romance:
There isn't a lot of romance in Mockingjay. I mean, almost not at all.

Action:
A LOT OF ACTION!!!!! Every single chapter was filled with action! It made the plot go so fast!

Heroine:
Katniss Everdeen is my favorite character of all times! I mean, she is so strong, confident and yet, she is herself! In these three books she goes in soo many emotional rides, I feel sorry for her. Those two deaths at the end almost broke my heart!

Hero:
Peeta, Finnick and Gale... All great heros! They did all to protect Katniss, their loved one. Though, Suzanne Collins decided that three heros is a lot, so decided to break out hearts and kill one of them.

Things I liked:
I liked that it was full of action. I liked District 13. I liked the epilogue.

Things I disliked:
Sometimes I thought that the writing style was like... to much. Like, sometimes I'd forget what Katniss was trying to say or think when she started that thought.

Would I recommend it?
YES FOR SURE. This book is a total must read. Like it's preceders, it's an action paced, full of greatness novel. It will make you think about yourself and the world around you.
