What if you knew exactly when you’d die? By age sixteen, Rhine Ellery has four years left to live. A botched effort to create a perfect race has left all males born with a lifespan of 25 years, and females a lifespan of 20 years--leaving the world in a state of panic. Geneticists seek a miracle antidote to restore the human race, desperate orphans crowd the population, crime and poverty have skyrocketed, and young girls are being kidnapped and sold as polygamous brides to bear more children.
When Rhine is sold as a bride, she vows to do all she can to escape. Yet her husband, Linden, is hopelessly in love with her, and Rhine can’t bring herself to hate him as much as she’d like to. He opens her to a magical world of wealth and illusion she never thought existed, and it almost makes it possible to ignore the clock ticking away her short life. But Rhine quickly learns that not everything in her new husband’s strange world is what it seems. Her father-in-law, an eccentric doctor bent on finding the antidote, is hoarding corpses in the basement; her fellow sister wives are to be trusted one day and feared the next; and Rhine has no way to communicate to her twin brother that she is safe and alive.
Together with one of Linden's servants, Gabriel, Rhine attempts to escape just before her seventeenth birthday. But in a world that continues to spiral into anarchy, is there any hope for freedom?
At a Glance:
I LOVE DYSTOPIAN BOOKS. THEY ARE SO SO SO GOOD. Wither wasn't an exception. I've wanted to read Wither since I read Delirium, and saw that these two series got many comparations. So, Delirium is my favorite book series, and of course, I wanted to read Wither. Now Wither is one of my favorite books ever!! Right there with Uglies and Delirium. I'm so glad I had a chance to read it.
Action:
Heroine:
Things I liked:
It didn't have a lot of action. But it was never boring, which isn't the case with a lot of books who don't have a lot of action. Often they are boring, and not one moment I felt bored when I was reading Wither.
I LOVE RHINE. Such a great female character. Loved how smart she was. I liked her stubbornest and determination to end with everything and get out of the mantion.
Things I liked:
As I said, EVERYTHING. From the mystery to the shocking surprises. I loved how shocking it was all the time, and how some things were even grose.
Liden. I liked him a lot.
Liden. I liked him a lot.
Cover Love:
BEST COVER EVER. It looks so awesome on the shelves. Great job to whoever did it.
Cliffhanger:There was a little bit of a cliffhanger at the end. I mean, I did expect that to happen at the end of the book.
Would I recommend it?
YES TO THE YES!!!! If you love dystopian books, THIS is the book for you.
*and last but not least, shoutout to (i'm becoming annoying with these shoutouts) to Jessi @ AuntieSpinelliReads for sending me Wither. I'd always be grateful. Thanks :)

I LOVED Wither. I've read it more than a year ago and I still can't forget it.. It was THAT good!! I've tried to read the sequel, Fever, but I just couldn't get into it. I hope you'll like it better, though (:

Great review~! I'm getting ready to start this book soon! I LOVE dystopian books too they are my fave, and I read SO MANY of them, but I haven't had a chance yet to read the Chemical Garden Series. But I just won the hardback book of book 1 and 2 in the Chemical Garden Series, Yay...lol! So nows my chance! :)
I've heard so much about this series recently, but I've never bothered to look up what they're about. Wither sounds really, really good and Dystpian is my absolute favorite genre so I'll have to read this soon!

OMG I read this more than a year ago, but I remember really loving the cover and for that to be the first thing that made me go "OMG I TOTES NEED THIS BOOK." And I can barely remember Rhine, but I'm glad you thought she was intelligent and smart! There's a lot of really great things about Wither I'm glad you loved it :)
I always love your reviews because they are always to the point! Yup, Wither was really good even though it didn't have a ton of action, and you are right, finally a dystopian book without a killer cliffhanger!!
