Book Review: Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Author: Veronica Roth
Published: May 1st 2012
Genre: Teen/YA, Dystopian
Pages: 525
Rating: 5 out of 5
One choice can transform you--or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves--and herself--while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.
Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable--and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.
"New York Times" bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian "Divergent" series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.
My review: Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Veronica Roth did it again! She scored a goal again!
Insurgent is a great sequel to DIVERGENT, which Is my favorite book. It has action, fights, death, and a little romance. I think that is the perfect formula of making a good book!
Insurgent continues after the events in Divergent happened. If you didn't know what happened, well my friend you need to re read the final chapters of Divergent.
This book was as amazing as Divergent. Maybe not better, but this awesome. The characters began to grow more, especially Tris, who had to make some though choices. By the end of the book she grew more as a person. You may find some of her choices stupid, but by the end of the book, you'd see that they were right.
The relationship between Tris and Tobias developed more and more. There were some though parts, because there were times when Tris didn't know how she felt. One time they were nice to eachother, other time they were in a fight. But that is something, a good relationship must have. With those fights they found each other, and found out that their love is even bigger then they thought it is.
There were a lot of deaths in Insurgent, the plot was twisting all the time, and you couldn't predict anything.
The ending of the book was.... I am speechless. After reading it, I stoped for a minute, held the book in my hands, and did nothing. Just blank staring at the walls.
I can't wait for book 3 ( Which I guess would be called Convergent. Let's hope I'm right).
