Harper only wanted a safe, normal life. But when her younger sister Gemma runs off with a dangerous clique of beautiful girls, Penn, Thea, and Lexi, everything changes. Vowing to get her sister back no matter what the cost, Harper must face dangers unlike any she's ever experienced. Fortunately, she has Daniel by her side, a gorgeous guy who's devoted to helping her find her sister—and who's immune to the girls' dark powers.
While Harper searches for her sister, Gemma struggles to adjust to her new life.  Gemma's powers are growing by the day, and the longer she lives with her new "sisters," the harder it is to resist entering their magical world.  It's a realm both dark and beautiful, and where she's plagued by strange hungers and unspeakable needs.  Just as she's drifting far away from her old life,  Harper and Daniel find her...but no one can deny how much she's changed.  All she wants is to return to her family and the mortal world, but how can she do that when she's become something else entirely—and will they still love her once they learn the truth?

I really hoped I would like this book... But it just didn't deliver what I hoped it would, and it was boring instead.

Wake, the first book in this series, started out good. I gave it 3 stars, because it was kind of plain and boring. But the end was good, and it had a potential for a good sequel. Too bad, that's not what happened.

As I said, one of the biggest problems with me and this book was the amount of boringness I felt while reading it. It took me like a week to finish it (it's 290 pages :O) You can already guess why.

There were moments when the tension was getting higher and you know, you're excited to see what'll happen, but it went straight downhill, every single time.

In the first book I loved the parts with the Greek mythology, you know where we got to find out who the sirens really are, why they are etc. In Lullaby, unfortunately, there was only one scene with the mythology history.

A good thing is that I liked Harper and Daniel's relationship. I liked how it developed and I am glad that It wasn't instalove.

I think that if Amanda Hocking, just like made Wake and Lullaby into one 400ish pages book, with a good plot, it would've been better and far more exciting. This way, she only got two, very boring books, with almost zero action.

I will still reading the third book Tidal, because I still have hopes that there's something good about this series.

2.5 stars

I'm sorry to hear it didn't live up to your expectations. Good thing I have read your review because earlier I have thought about buying this and the first book, hehe
