Book Review: City Of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Title: City Of Ashes
Author: Cassandra Clare
Published: March 24th 2009

Genre: Paranormal/Fantasy, YA
Pages: 453
Rating: 5 out of 5

A murderer is loose in New York City ...
... and the victims are Downworlder children. Clary Fray and her fellow Shadowhunters have a strong suspicion that Valentine, Clary’s father, may be behind the killings. But if he is the murderer, then what’s his true motive? To make matters worse, the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, has been stolen, and the mysterious Inquisitor has arrived to investigate, with his eyes vigilantly targeted on Clary’s brother, Jace.
Clary will need to face some terrifying demons and even more terrifying family decisions. No one said that the life of a Shadowhunter would be easy.

My Review:
City of Ashes continues few days after the end of City Of Bones.

I liked City Of Bones, even though It did dissapoint me a little. But City of Ashes was alot better than City Of Bones.

Here, we meet a lot of new characters, from the Downworlders to the Seelie Court. In City of Bones, Jace and Clary must find the Mortal Cup. Here, they have to find the Mortal Sword, again stolen by Valentine.

All of the battles and adventures in this book are as bad ass as the characters.

There were a lot of unexpected moments. I did not expect Simon to turn into a vampire. And he can stay in the sun. Why? We get to see in the third book.

Luke opens up a lot in City of Ashes and I thought the idea of him facing the past when it comes to the Lightwoods and especially relating his feelings about the past to Clary were the absolute best part of the book. Even though he isn't a main character, he's quickly becoming one of my favorites.

I'm really looking forward to reading the next book to this series to see what Valentine will do next and how this group of teenagers are going to fight against him and his demon crew, and Clary's mom there is so much hidden from Jace and Clary to many secrets that need to come out. And I for one bet that Hodge know's it all. They need to find him so I can finally get some answers. :)

                                                                                5/5
note: Thanks to TheMortalInstitute for sending me this amazing book, and giving me the opportunity to fall for Cassandra Clare's writing.
